Report: Loss of soil strength likely led to Edenville, Sanford dam collapses
An interim report commissioned by federal regulators indicated that the sudden loss of soil strength under saturated conditions most likely caused the static liquefaction failure of the Michigan Edenville and Sanford dams during steady rain in May 2020 to collapse last year.
