Black carp spreading through the Midwest threatens Illinois waterways
Black carp, an invasive species that was first imported to control snails in fish farms where fish are bred, have made their way into Illinois waterways. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources believes black carp have moved up the Illinois River as far as central Illinois.
