St. Regis Mohawk Tribe receives $300K to prevent road salt pollution

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, located in Akwesasne, NY received more than $300,000 in federal funding from bipartisan legislation to prevent road salt pollution during the winter months. The pollution prevention funding will open up services and workshops to facilitate informed decision making in the utilization of road salt. Road salts have been a concern to Great Lakes researchers in recent years as they have been the cause of increasing salt levels in the Great Lakes and its tributaries.
